OverviewThe Supreme Court of the United States or SCOTUS is the highest court in the United States. It has the final say on the Constitutionality of legal matters. As a co-equal branch of the triumvirate the nine SCOTUS member posses a check on the power of of the United States Congress and the United States President. Each Justice is nominated by the President and must be confirmed by the United States Senate. Upon confirmation the Justice joins one of the most exclusive groups in the world for as long as he or she chooses to serve. A simple majority vote in this group can have tremendous and lasting effects on the lives of every single American and often the entire world. With the ability to rule the laws of the United States Congress and the President unconstitutional these nine individuals influence billions and generation after generation.
